An‑Nissa Academy Birmingham is an established Islamic education provider committed to delivering high-quality, accessible and purposeful learning. For over seven years, we have supported children, young people and adults in developing their Islamic knowledge, Qur’anic understanding, academic confidence and personal character.
From our beginnings as an online academy, we have grown into a thriving learning community serving hundreds of students with the support of a dedicated team of teachers, scholars and education professionals. Our continued growth has enabled us to expand our provision to include both online learning and onsite classes from our Birmingham premises.
Our aim is to provide an educational environment in which every student is encouraged to learn, progress and develop with confidence.

Our mission is to provide authentic Islamic education alongside high-quality academic support, helping students develop the knowledge, values and practical skills needed to succeed in both their religious and everyday lives.
We aim to:
- Teach Islamic knowledge in a clear, structured and age-appropriate manner.
- Help students recite, understand and develop a lifelong relationship with the Qur’an.
- Make traditional Islamic scholarship accessible to learners at different stages.

Islamic Education Rooted in Authentic Knowledge
Our Islamic programmes are carefully structured to support students from their earliest stages of learning through to advanced scholarly study.
Students can progress from learning Qaidah and Qur’an recitation to studying Tajweed, memorisation, Islamic Studies, Arabic and the traditional Islamic sciences. Our advanced pathways include structured Alimiyyah and Dars-e-Nizami studies for learners seeking a deeper and more comprehensive understanding of Islam.

Our courses are delivered by suitably experienced teachers, Huffaz, Alimahs and scholars who understand the importance of combining knowledge with good character and responsible practice.

An‑Nissa Academy provides learning opportunities for a wide range of students.
Children and Young People
Our children’s programmes introduce Islamic learning through clear routines, structured teaching and age-appropriate resources. Students are supported in developing their Qur’an recitation, Islamic knowledge, confidence and character.
Young Scholars
Our scholar-development pathways provide committed students with the opportunity to progress into structured Arabic and Islamic scholarship. These programmes develop discipline, understanding and the ability to engage responsibly with traditional Islamic texts.
Adult Learners
We welcome adults who are beginning their Islamic studies as well as those seeking to develop existing knowledge. Our adult courses are designed to make learning manageable, relevant and beneficial alongside work and family responsibilities.
Learners with Additional Needs
We recognise that students learn in different ways. Where possible, we aim to provide considerate and inclusive support for learners with special educational needs and disabilities. Parents and carers are encouraged to discuss individual learning needs with the Academy before enrolment so that appropriate provision can be considered.
Online and Onsite Learning
Our online provision allows students to access structured Islamic education and academic support from across the United Kingdom and internationally. Classes are delivered through live teaching, enabling students to interact with their teachers, participate in lessons and receive regular guidance.

Our Approach to Teaching and Learning

Student progress may be reviewed through classwork, teacher observations, assessments and examinations. Reports and improvement targets may also be provided to help students and families understand current performance and the next steps required.
Safeguarding and Student Welfare
The safety and wellbeing of our students are central to the work of the Academy. We are committed to maintaining appropriate safeguarding procedures, professional boundaries and respectful learning environments across both our online and onsite provision.
Staff are expected to follow Academy policies relating to safeguarding, conduct, confidentiality and student welfare. Parents, carers, students and staff are encouraged to report any concerns promptly so that they can be addressed appropriately.

Leadership
An‑Nissa Academy was founded and is led by Muftiyyah Shazia Bibi, Headteacher and CEO.
Muftiyyah Shazia is a qualified Islamic scholar and jurist who has completed advanced Islamic studies and formal Iftaa specialisation. She is also a qualified Secondary Religious Education teacher with a PGCE and Qualified Teacher Status.
Her combined experience in traditional Islamic scholarship, mainstream education, teaching and organisational leadership shapes the Academy’s commitment to authentic knowledge, professional standards and meaningful student development.
